The RockPointe Church Campus in Flower Mound, Texas originally consisted of a Worship Center and classroom building and a multi-purpose hall. The church was rapidly outgrowing these spaces and having both pedestrian and vehicular circulation issues on site. We worked with the church to determine future needs and projected growth and to Master Plan their site. An extensive programming/growth study was conducted to determine specific areas of growth and to project the amount of space needed for each group.

After projected needs were determined we studied the site and circulation patterns to develop a master plan that would knit the congregation together into a campus. We created a central lawn that was limited to only pedestrian circulation and kept vehicular traffic on the perimeter of the site. The lawn provided a central gathering area for the campus and allowed safe circulation between the buildings. The new building was planned to take advantage of the views of this lawn and to screen the parking from the core of the site.

The first phase of the RockPointe Church Addition involved a new 1000 seat Worship Center, administrative space, adult classrooms, and children’s / daycare classrooms. A long north facing glass circulation corridor fronts the newly created campus lawn and ties the program elements within the building together and ties back to the existing buildings on site.

The building essentially has two main entrances that accommodate access from both the new lawn and from the parking in the rear. Both entrances open to a large lobby gathering area that allows the congregation space to mingle before and after services. The lobby features a wood ceiling and stone walls which are lit by the linear skylights at the perimeter of the space.

The children’s classroom wing extends to the east and the administrative and adult spaces zone to the west. The west wing gracefully curves and rises toward the prominent on-site hill. Future phases will develop a prayer garden and focal point at the ridge of the hill.
